Man Drives 100 MPH With Wife On Hood Of Minivan

"A U.S. man high on methamphetamine drove with his wife on the hood of their minivan for more than 40 miles, hitting speeds of 100 mph, according to police.

 The woman climbed onto the hood early on Saturday morning, outside the couple`s home in Manteca, California, because she wanted to keep her husband from driving off, said the city`s police spokesman, Rex Osborn.

But instead of stopping, Christopher Carroll, 36, sped away with his wife clinging to the hood, Osborn said.

Police said they would not identify the woman because she is the victim of domestic violence, but Osborn said she is in her 30s and a mother."

A tale involving a minivan conjures up nightmarish images of suburban conformity. I cringe in terror when I see a soccer mom with a cargo of screaming kids.

My readers can relax, this story isn`t that terrifying. The man should be condemned and punished for his evil act, but the woman should be criticized for her stupidity. The woman is a victim of domestic violence, and she should have let the creep leave, and called the police. Instead she climbed onto the hood in a desperate attempt to prevent him from fleeing.

If the woman didn`t have any children, I could care less if she stayed with a man with a penchant for beating her senseless. But she has children, and by staying with her loser husband she is exposing her children to emotional and physical abuse.

Carroll was arrested and charged with attempted murder and domestic abuse. It looks like he`s going to be behind bars for many years, maybe in the meantime the woman will find a man who doesn`t do drugs and doesn`t hit women.
